THE Cheshire Community Foundation is for the first time delivering the Tampon Tax Community Fund in the county.

The foundation will work with community groups and charities who deliver projects to support women and girls to improve skills, confidence, health and wellbeing, and social networks.

There is more than £43,000 available to spend, with eight awards anticipated across Cheshire and Warrington

Applications are now open and close on November 5.

Zoe Sheppard, CEO of Cheshire Community Foundation, said: “This is the first time we have been involved with the fund and it is a real opportunity for us to support women in Cheshire.”

The grants allocate funds generated from the VAT on sanitary products to projects that improve the lives of disadvantaged women and girls.

Examples include helping vulnerable young women transition back into education or training, and projects aimed at breaking down barriers in industries such as construction.
