THE community has come together to knit items of clothing for patients in the neonatal unity of Leighton Hospital.

Susan Martin,worked within the NHS for over 20 years in Continuing Health Care, organised the collection and delivery of the items which included 152 hats, 43 blankets, 15 matinee jackets, 13 breast squares, 10 cardigan and hat sets, 3 vests and 2 christening gowns.

Susan said: “They have been knitted by the Middle Wyches WI and members of the Community Group.

“I would also like to give a mention to Fiona and Genna at The Pet Shop in Wheelock Street who kindly stored the items for me to collect.”

Susan took the items to the hospital on Monday, September 10 and she said that the neonatal unit were 'thrilled' to receive them.
