A PLANNING application to build two new dwellings in the back of Wheelock Street has been submitted to Cheshire East Council.

Currently, the land, at the rear of 43 Wheelock Street, is only being used for five garages.

The design and access statement states: “This piece of land is currently untidy, of no historic significance and not utilised to its full potential given the key location in Middlewich.

“The scheme is in keeping with its surroundings, the area and the current uses of the neighbouring properties.

“It will add additional dwellings to a popular area that is close to relevant amenities and will be of no negative impact on any neighbours.

“The proposal would enhance the character and quality of the historic environment and make a positive contribution to the heritage value of the site.

“Overall, it has been proven that the design of the buildings will be of a high-quality standard, traditional and sympathetic to the scale.”

Access to the site will be granted using the existing passage between 47 Wheelock Street and 49 Wheelock Street.
