DETAILS have been announced for the first ever Middlewich Heritage Day.

The event takes place on June 30 from 9.30am to 1.00pm and features guest speakers.

From 9.30am tea and coffee will be available followed by an introduction by Kerry Kirwan.

Dr Michael Nevell, senior lecturer of archaeology in Salford University, will be giving a talk starting at 10.15am.

There will be short interval at 11.15am giving attendees the opportunity to question trustees and examine the displays.

Local history writer and researcher Claire Moores will be giving a talk from 11.45am.

Kerry Kirwan, Middlewich Heritage development officer said: “We’ve been doing a lot of heritage projects in the town and one of the problems we have is none of us are experts on the website.”

“This makes it difficult to get things out to the general public. So it was felt that we needed to establish someway of putting on an event or an exhibition where people can come along and listen to speakers talking about things that relate to Middlewich.

“They can also get access to the people that work and support the projects as well.

“It’s kind of like an extended open day because Middlewich has got such a lot of history to it, we have enough material to do talks for a long time to come.”

Anyone looking to go on a tour of the brine pumps can do so at the end of the event.

Tickets cost £4 for non-members and £2 for members.
