MIDDLEWICH Clean Team received a financial boost in the form of a donation from the Labour group.

Party members and councillors presented a £300 cheque at a litter pick that took place in Pochin’s Way and Holmes Chapel Road on Saturday, May 12.

The money was raised at the recent ‘Rock the Vote’ fund raising event organised by Middlewich Labour, at which local bands Irwell, Salt Rox and Taking Liberties performed on April 21.

Cllr Mike Hunter said: “We all really appreciate what the Clean Team have done for Middlewich, and us supporting them in this way is the least we can do.

“I’d like to thank all the Middlewich residents and others who attended Rock the Vote; not only was it a terrific evening’s entertainment, we raised all this money for a good cause. It makes the hard work worthwhile.”

Cllr Jonathan Parry said: “When we do our fundraising, we believe it’s important to give back to the community, and what the Clean Team do for Middlewich is priceless.

“I’d like to give a special mention to Maxine Hemmings who gave a thank you speech at the end of Rock the Vote. We are genuinely thrilled that the money means so much to them.”

Abby Horton, vice chair of Middlewich Clean Team said: “On behalf of the committee and every one of our fantastic volunteers, I’d like to say a huge thank you to all the Labour members and supporters who have very generously donated to Middlewich Clean Team.

“The money will help us buy always-needed equipment such as litter pickers, gloves, Hi-Viz jackets and bag hoops for all our members. We hope to continue making Middlewich a pleasant place for us all to enjoy living in for a long time to come.”
