DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a robbery outside a Chinese takeaway in Middlewich.
At around 5.20pm on Friday, April 13, a man got into the back of a delivery van in a car park at the side of a Chinese takeaway on Warmingham Lane.
When inside the van he assaulted the driver, who was in the process of delivering goods to the premises, and stole a quantity of cash.
The offender then ran off along Warmingham Lane towards Middlewich town centre.
Cheshire Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, saw the offender or thinks they may know who he is to get in touch.
DC Richard Garrett, of the Crewe Local Policing Unit, said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the delivery driver and we are determined to find the offender and bring him to justice.
“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and I would like to reassure the community that this appears to have been an isolated incident.”
The offender is described as white, around six foot tall and with a stocky build. He had hazel eyes and was wearing a dark navy coat with a black hood. He was also wearing a black neck warmer, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.
DC Garrett added: “If you recognise the description of the offender and think you know who he is, or have any other information that may help with our investigation, no matter how small, please call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 35355, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
