A MIDDLEWICH resident confronted the town council at its monthly meeting on Monday, telling councillors they have ‘thrown away’ residents’ money by agreeing to spend £33,000 on a PCSO.
The council agreed to set aside the funds in this year’s budget last month, and the decision proved to be unpopular with Middlewich residents and Guardian readers.
A Guardian poll showed that 66 per cent did not think it was money well spent.
It showed that 27 per cent thought it was the right thing to spend the money on and seven per cent were not sure.
At the February meeting of Middlewich Town Council on Monday night, resident Jacqui Eyre, used the ‘open forum’ part of the meeting – designed to let residents have their say – to tell councillors what she thought of the decision.
Jacqui said: “I just wanted to add my dismay that you have thrown away this huge amount of our council tax.
“It just seems frivolous and irresponsible with our money.”
