A COMMUNITY children's choir is being set up in Middlewich by Jeremy Coles, the director of music and family works at St Michael & All Angels Church.

SONG*STARS is the culmination of many years' work with schools in the town, and aims to bring about community singing.

Jeremy said: "We often invite children together to sing and perform at the Christmas Lights switch-on and for the FAB Festival in June.

"This can often take the form of a scratch choir who come together just for the event. It seemed a shame that we let all the enthusiasm die down until the next event - hence the idea for a more permanent kids choir.

"For the next four weeks we are coming together to see – and hear – what Middlewich children are capable of and to raise their voices in celebration of life and love as we approach Easter.

"One of our aims is to support local community events throughout the year."

Children from schools years 2 to 6 are invited to join the next session on Monday, February 26 from 5.30pm to 6.30pm at No.28 Hightown to learn new songs and have fun singing together.

SONG*STARS takes its first breath on the same day that the faith-based Festival Community Choir restarts after the New Year break.

Adults – from high school and above – are welcome to come and join in the fun from 7pm on Monday 26th February, again in No.28.
