MIDDLEWICH’S town crier placed fourth in the world championships.

Devlin Hobson picked up fourth spot at the World International Town Crier Tournament in Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia this month.

The competition ran from September 12 to 17 and involved visiting various sites in the Canadian province as well as taking part in three rounds of crying.

Devlin said: “First, second and third place were handed out at the civic dinner so I only learnt my final spot a couple of days after.

“It’s not about the silverware it’s about getting the word of our wonderful town of Middlewich out there.

“With us making the TV and local papers in the area Nova Scotia certainly won’t forget Middlewich in a hurry.

“I will see everyone at the next Mexon Market.”

The first round was an open cry while the other two were about the Canada 150 cultural celebrations and Annapolis Valley.

Devlin’s last competition of the year is in Hastings in October.
