OFFICERS at Knutsford police station have made a generous donation to help a Longridge community centre.

PCSOs Gary Fulton and Zoe Cox visited The Welcome Café to drop off an Xbox games console and television last week on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary.

The console and TV, which initially came from generous business and public donations, had been used in the past to provide entertainment for youths who live in the area.

PCSO Fulton said: “We have used the Xbox in the past but felt we were not getting the most out of it, and we agreed as a team to donate to The Welcome Café who play a big part in the local community.

“We believe that it will be beneficial to the local community as the six week holidays have just started, giving the local children something to do, plus we can always pop along and see how they are getting on.”

Marie Fox, operations manager at The Welcome, said: “We are very grateful to Cheshire Police for their generous donation, and will make sure that the local youths who live in the community benefit.”

The Welcome will also be running day trips for the children of Longridge and Shaw Heath during the summer holidays, following a fundraiser at the Falcon Bearer.
