A THIEF smashed the window of a car in King Edward Street and stole a purse from the glove compartment.

The owner of the car, Yasmin Lowe, has been left outraged after the incident which is thought to have taken place at around 3am on Monday, July 24.

Yasmin took to Facebook to appeal to her neighbours who may have seen the thief fleeing from King Edward Street during the night.

Yasmin said: “How much of a sad low-life do you have to be to walk on to somebody else's property and smash up their car. Hopefully somebody has seen something.”

Despite Yasmin suspecting that the incident took place at 3am, police say they are looking at the possibility that it could have happened at any time between 10pm on July 23 and 8am on July 24, and are urging the public to get in touch with any information.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Someone smashed the passenger side window of the Fiat 500 and it’s been reported to us that a purse was stolen from the glove compartment, as well as a charger.

“Anyone with any information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 146 of July 24.”
