THE Murgatroyd Brine Pump open days take place this weekend.

On July 29 and 30 between 1pm to 4pm the story of how George Murgatroyd found rock salt in Middlewich will be shown to the public.

The Middlewich Heritage Trust is aiming to drive forward with the ‘Revealing Murgie’s’ project to save a scheduled monument and raise the profile of the Manchester man.

There is also a mile and a half long guided tour available. The Saturday is fully booked but there are a limited number of spaces for Sunday.

Parking is advised in Middlewich Community Church.

The open days are free.
