MORE than 40 acts will play at venues across town this weekend, as the inaugural Knutsford Music Festival takes place.

Alongside three nights of gigs put on by the town council, musicians will grace pubs, restaurants and shops across Knutsford.

The festival, organised by a Knutsford Town Council working group, brings together a host of big names and home-grown talent.

Britpop group Dodgy, with 90s hits such as Good Enough and Staying Out for the Summer, head up a Saturday night concert, sandwiched between blues and jazz on Friday night and a classical show on Sunday.

The Guardian’s festival guide, featuring all the performers and venues across June 23, 24 and 26, is available on page 28 and 29 of this week's print edition.

Town clerk Adam Keppel Garner said: “We’ve been delighted with the reception from local businesses to the town’s first music festival.

"They’ve gone out and booked some great acts for the festival, visitors will be spoilt for choice and it is great to think this is just our first year of the event.”

Joining Adam in the Knutsford Town Council working group are Cllrs Jonathan Farber, Andrew Malloy and James Power.

The festival was given the go-ahead in January of this year, and the inaugural event is set to ‘test the waters’.
