STAFF at a Knutsford care home shared an insight into the building's colourful history - wearing full Victorian get-up.

Cllr Neil Forbes, mayor of Knutsford, opened proceedings at Sharston House for National Care Home Open Day on Friday, June 16.

A display revealing the past of the prominent Manor Park home, collated following an appeal by staff, was a popular attraction at the Victorian fair and street party.

Home manager David Costa said: “We decided to hold a street fair and party on National Care Home Open Day because we really wanted people from the town to come in and see our extensive refurbishment work, restoring the house to its former glory.

“We had an encouraging number of visitors, including neighbours, friends and relatives, other Kingsley care home employees and NHS community therapists.”

Proceeds from the event will be split between Alzheimer’s Society and the residents’ fund, which helps to pay for extra activities and outings.
