IN its 27th year, Middlewich’s popular and much heralded FAB Fest takes place this weekend – and the Guardian has compiled a list of what you can do over the weekend.

The annual festival, organised by Middlewich Town Council and the community, promises to be a momentous event once again.

If you're not sure about the weather then don't worry, it's going to be a scorcher, with temperatures of 25 degrees celsius forecast for Saturday and Sunday. 

It may be a but cloudy tonight but no rain jackets are needed.

What’s On at this year’s FAB Fest includes:

Food and Drink: FAB Beer Festival by Merlin Brewery, make sure to buy your tickets from the Middlewich Town Council gazebo on Market Field. Cocktail Bar by BeetleJuice, G&T Bar by the Boston Shakers. Matched with a food  court and farmhouse ice cream.

FAB Crafts and gifts: A variety of quality crafts and gifts will be on the main site, Market Field and down by the canal on Salinae Field. In the craft marquee special guests, Afra Kashmir master craftsmen from India will be selling their pashmina scarves and palm paintings.

Wish Upon a Sparkle: Back with a sparkle after their success last year, Wish Upon A Sparkle will be offering endless possibilities for festival glitter makeup.

StreetFest on Saturday: Head down to Wheelock Street in the town centre for Street Fest. Lots of fun with the Moulton Crows, traditional dance and street theatre, plus keep your eyes peeled for special guests.

Canal and Floating market: Middlewich’s famous canals will be lined with hundreds of beautifully decorated narrowboats and trade boats that make up the spectacular “floating market”. Along the canalside you can browse a range of arts and crafts, homemade food and drink, such as cheese, sweets, coffee and antiques – all from the narrowboats. The market will run between Town Bridge to ‘The Big Lock’, each day from 10am.

Official FAB Fringe: The following nine venues contribute towards the cost of the festival; The Boar’s Head Hotel, The Big Lock, Harvester Salt Cellar, The Kings Lock, Middlewich Royal British Legion, Middlewich Narrowboats, The Narrowboat Inn, The Newton Brewery and The White Bear.

If you fancy a boogie then head down to Market Field, off Lewin Street (CW10 9BG) for the main acts including headliners Lightening Seeds.

Friday

Main Stage - Gates open at 6pm to 11pm finish.

Headliners: Lightning Seeds - They have experienced national and international success with their songs featured in the UK and US music charts, and made it big with hits including “Football’s Coming Home”, “Pure’, “Lucky You”, and “The Life of Riley”.

Will be supported by Plastic, Shakedown Stockholm and The Luka State.

Saturday

Main Stage - gates open at 10.30am to a 10.30pm finish.

Headliners: The Sundowners - have released wo albums and toured the UK. Their new lead single ‘Great Beauty’ has been labelled as “utterly majestic” by ‘This Feeling’, and they have featured on BBC 6 Music and Radio X.

Will be supported by Circus Raj, Off The Grid, Eddy & The Bushburys, Megan Dixon-Hood, Emma Stevens and Deja Vega throughout the day.

PLUS: Saturday 11am FAB Parade from Tesco car park

Sunday

Main stage – gates open at 10am until 7pm finish.

Headliners: Molotov Jukebox - Lead singer, Natalia Tena, from hit series ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Harry Potter’, fronts the band with sultry vocals and accordion. A unique tropical-gypsy-dance sound.

Running order: Festival Service, The Roamin’ Jasmine, Dom Collins, Marvin Powell, Sam Lyon, Paul Wilkes, Thrill Collins and Molotov Jukebox.

PLUS: 11am Festival Praise on Market Field, hosted by Middlewich Churches Together.

Free Boat Trips - Courtesy of the Canal & Rivers Trust, charity stalls and the Badge Pirates at Town Wharf, Saturday & Sunday from 10am.

Boat Rally - A colourful flotilla of narrowboats, below The Big Lock & above Kings Lock all weekend.

Canalside - Crafts and stalls and kids rides, on Salinae Field, Saturday and Sunday from 10am.

Kids Zone - with Such Entertainment; on Market Field Saturday and Sunday from 11am.

Funfair - Civic Way car park all weekend.

Your Heritage - Photographic competition From 11am Sunday, Victoria Hall.
