THE Met Office has warned trees could be uprooted and transport disrupted as gale force winds are expected to sweep the north west today.
A yellow warning for wind is currently in place with gusts of 40 to 50mph predicted.
A spokesman added: "Isolated gusts close to 60 mph are possible over coasts, hills and locally inland where heavy showers occur.
"Expect some localised transport disruption with some trees perhaps uprooted.
"Large waves and spray will affect some coasts."
The warning is in place from 10am to 10pm today, Tuesday.
