A GENEROUS group of Knutsford slimmers have cleared out their wardrobes to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Members of the Curzon Slimming World groups, run by Vicky Harrison, have given bags of the clothes they successfully slimmed out of to charity as part of the Big Slimming World Clothes Throw.

The nationwide initiative bids to raise £3 million for Cancer Research UK, and between June 5 and June 18 sees confident members fill specially-branded bags to give away.

Vicky said: “Lots of people don’t know that keeping a healthy weight helps reduce the risk of developing some types of cancer.

“The Clothes Throw is a really good opportunity to remind people of the importance of maintaining a healthy weight, as well as a chance for the members who have done so well to celebrate their amazing weight losses by saying goodbye to their ‘before’ clothes.”

Anne Daly, who has lost 3st 2lbs, said: “I’ve been putting bits aside for a couple of weeks now, ready to bag it all up in June – I’ve grown too small for t-shirts I once hid in.

“There are even shoes that seem to be a bit too roomy for me now. Now I’m proud to wear colourful clothes that show off my new figure and I no longer feel the need to cover up or wear dark colours.”

Last year the drive raised £2.1 million.
