THE second annual Middlewich town criers competition will be taking place on Saturday, May 27.
The event will bring together some of the best town criers the country has to offer, with a range taking part from across the north of England.
Proceedings will start at 11am on Saturday in the White Bear courtyard, where spectators will witness a home cry round, before the theme round which this year focuses on FAB Festival.
Criers will be judged on a series of categories, including sustained clarity, diction and inflection, presentation, accuracy, content of cry and best dressed.
All points are totalled at the end of the day and the one with most overall will take home the Middlewich trophy.
Middlewich town crier Devlin Hobson will take up the role of master of ceremonies, as the host is unable to participate in the competition.
He said: “Criers will start with their home cry, and then we move on to the theme with each being different.
“Come along and see this year’s competition, it can go to anybody on the day.
“May the best man win.”
