FAMILIES raised more than £60,000 in a Bubble Rush for St Luke’s Hospice last week.

More than 1,800 people flocked to Oulton Park on Saturday, May 13 for a 5k rush through soapy bubbles.

The Bubble Rush has been held by St Luke’s Hospice since 2015, and since then twenty five hospices across the UK have held their own version of the race, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Jane Thompson, Event Manager at St Luke’s, said: “We all had so much fun at this event, thank you to everyone who participated or volunteered.

“It was fantastic seeing so many families enjoying themselves, there was a real buzz and everyone loved it.”

Cliff Dickenson and Son sponsored the event and have donated a new Ford KA+ which one lucky person will win the Hospice’s grand raffle draw later this year.

Rebecca Jones, from Middlewich, participated in the Bubble Rush with her two children, Amelia, 10 and Reuben, 5.

She said: “My children Amelia and Reuben both wanted to do it in memory of their Great Grandma who died at St Luke’s a year ago.

“The staff at the hospice were really kind and gave Amelia and Reuben tea and cake when we went to visit.

“They want to do it again next year and smash their £200 total that they made this year.”

Chris Winward, director at Cliff Dickenson and Son, said: “My son and fellow director Matthew ran the course and I was on hand to watch other staff members take part.

“It was great to see people having a wonderful family day out whilst helping to raise money for such a worthy cause.

“It reinforces our links with the community, the hospice and our customers.”

The St Luke’s events team are planning another family event for the end of September.

St Luke’s is a charity funded by voluntary contributions.

It has to raise £8,600 each day to enable the hospice to provide free care and support For further information visit stlukes-hospice.co.uk.
