A BLUES show and the first cluster of venues taking part in the upcoming Knutsford Music Festival have been announced, with a weekend of events set to roll out across town.

One of three evening events organised by Knutsford Town Council as part of the inaugural festival, award-winning blues artist Rebecca Downes will headline an intimate gig at the Brooks Street Club on Friday, June 23.

Rebecca will be supported by singer-songwriter and guitarist Rick Whitehead, who will perform a range of familiar covers and original material, drawing inspiration from the likes of Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson and Eric Clapton.

Warrington-based acoustic group Back to Front will open up proceedings. Tickets are £10 each and are now on sale from knutsfordtowncouncil.gov.uk/musicfestival, along with the recently announced Dodgy-headlined St John’s Church show on Saturday night, June 24.

Also confirmed as taking part in the festival will be Jack Rabbit's, The Cross Keys, Tatton Brewery, Knutsford Market Hall and the British Red Cross charity shop.

Town clerk Adam Keppel-Garner said: “One of our key aims in delivering a music event in Knutsford is to include as many local businesses as possible so we are delighted to have so many venues already signed up for what is shaping up to be a fantastic weekend.”
