FIONA Bruce MP has announced she will stand for re-election.
Following the announcement of a general election on June 8, Fiona Bruce has confirmed she will stand for Member of Parliament for the Congleton constituency.
The Congleton MP, which covers Middlewich and Holmes Chapel, has also welcomed the Prime Minister’s decision to hold an election.
Fiona said: “Theresa May has shown her strength of leadership by making the correct call for the country.
“She could have remained Prime Minister until 2020 without calling an election, but she has rightly chosen to go to the British people and seek a mandate for governing the country.
“This was a bold decision, but one that is in the clear interests of democracy and the country.
“I now look forward to working hard during this upcoming campaign to retain the trust and the votes of the people and communities in the Congleton constituency.”
The Conservative MP has represented Congleton since 2010, and was returned with a majority of 16,773 in 2015.
