FIVE people have been arrested following a drugs raid in Middlewich.

Last Friday at 7.15pm, officers from Sandbach executed a drugs warrant in Tewksbury Close.

A quantity of what is believed to be class A and B drugs were found at the address along with cash and other drugs paraphernalia.

Four men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in supply of drugs.

PC Debbie Jerman, beat manager for Middlewich, said: “We had received a large amount of community intelligence expressing concerns about drug dealing taking place around Middlewich.

“This enabled us to approach the magistrates court who granted us a search warrant.

“As a result, we now have recovered drugs which we believe were to be distributed on the streets around Middlewich.”

The successful search was carried out by a block response and firearms team, and Sandbach Police tweeted after the raid with #hereforyou.

Four of the five arrested have been released on bail pending further investigations and forensic examinations.

Sgt Penny Jones said: “This is an excellent result which has been achieved as a result of working with and listening to the local community.

“A lot of the work carried out tackling drugs and drug related crime is done without public awareness, but while utilising their information.”

The police beat team aims to utilise the close relationship with community members within the area to encourage cooperative efforts and strengthen police effectiveness.

Cheshire Police would like to encourage all communities to pass on any information or report any concerns through the Cheshire Police website, dial 101 to speak to an operator or alternatively contact Crimestoppers UK on 0800 555 111.
