THE Friends of the Moor volunteers have sprung into action, with two events down and one to go in a busy fortnight.

Following the group’s AGM on Wednesday, March 8, members took part in the Great British Spring Clean on Saturday and are now looking ahead to hosting the Knutsford Rotary Jog this Sunday.

Last week’s meeting highlighted the group’s cooperation with Ansa, who have this year provided a dedicated officer to help rewrite the management plan and aim for a ninth consecutive Green Flag award.

Chairman Debbie Jameson announced that this year would be her last in the role, as well as her aim to recruit four new members.

Saturday’s community litter pick saw 20 volunteers turn out between 11am and noon, led by Cllr Stewart Gardiner and filling 20 bags for collection.

The group found various bits of metal and debris, including a burnt out wheelie bin, along with glass bottles which were taken to the tip. The ‘showstopper’ was a ladder found in a tree.

All are welcome to get involved with the Knutsford Rotary Jog around the Moor this Sunday, March 19, with registration open at 9.30am – an hour before the run starts.

Friends members will be there on the day, and more information is available on the Facebook page and website.

Debbie, Cllr Andrew Malloy & Michele Hammond are seeking modest sponsorship for the Rotary good causes and to raise money for picnic benches, to replace those damaged by vandals last year.
