A MIDDLEWICH woman will play a leading role with a Runcorn-based theatre group just a week before her wedding.

Laura Hobley, 31, with The Zodiac group, will perform 9 to 5 The Musical at the end of the month and play the part of Judy as part of a trio of characters that make up the musical leads.

She has been planning her wedding whilst also in the middle of rehearsals, and to the amazement of the society, has claimed she is not stressed or nervous.

Her role as Judy will be as the new girl in the office, who has been forced to find her first job after her husband left her for a 19-year-old secretary.

The musical is based on the seminal 1980 hit film of the same name, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick.

Set in the late 1970s, the story is of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era and provides a thought-provoking and slightly romantic outlook on life.

A Zodiac group spokesman said: “Laura is a fantastic singer and blew the audition panel away with her acting and her singing when she auditioned for the role.

“She is very excited to be leading lady for both the show and the wedding and will be swapping her dancing shoes for something a little more glamorous after closing night.”

Laura completes the character trio of Jennifer Deakin, the experienced office secretary and Doralee, the Dolly Parton inspired character in the office.

9 to 5 will run between March 28 and April 1, with Laura set to marry Tom Johnson one week later on April 8.
