THE inaugural Knutsford Music Festival will take place over a weekend in June, the town council has confirmed.

The three-day event will kick off on Friday, June 23 and run until Sunday, June 25, bringing a variety of genres to the town centre.

Led by Knutsford Town Council, the festival was announced in January and will celebrate musical talent while drawing visitors into the centre.

With the council in the process of working with businesses to curate a range of events, a Knutsford illustrator has adapted the 120-year-old Knutsford Urban District Council crest to create a logo for the festival.

Lisa Benskin, deputy town clerk, said: “Knutsford-based illustrator Lyndsey Green has created the logo for the event, adapting and redrawing the 120-year-old logo of the Knutsford Urban District Council which was retired in 1955.

“King Canute stands proud, fording Knutsford but with his traditional axe swapped for a shiny new Fender Stratocaster.”

The council will organise four key events over the weekend, and is hoping to provide 'something for everyone'.

Lisa said: “We are currently compiling a list of venues and acts looking to take part in this new event so if you want to perform or want to host, please get in touch.”

“We hope to begin announcing more information over the next two months.”
