A WINSFORD runner has extended his marathon fundraising target following a successful music event in Middlewich.

Lee Atkin-Nash, 45, will run the London Marathon for Cancer Research UK in April, and recently held a music event at the Royal British Legion in Lewin Street.

Lee raised more than £1,000 from ticket sales, a raffle, tombola and donations, with entertainment provided with The Grey Skys, The Virgils and Jake Woodward. He has now raised more than £1,800 in total and reset his projection to £2,000.

He said: “It was a phenomenal evening for everyone. The music we had on generated a great atmosphere and everyone young and old enjoyed themselves.

“We actually had a totalizer during the evening and when it broke £1,000 I felt elated.”

Lee decided to run the marathon in support of two family members - who are now in remission - that suffered from the disease.

Currently running at 12 miles, the Winsford man is looking to be up to 20 in the next two weeks, but he believes that the hardest part of the training is making time for all his commitments.

He said: “I work shifts at Manchester Airport, and coinciding with the training, I have to make sure I make time for my family.”

Lee currently has no further events planned but has said to ‘watch this space.’ Anyone wishing to give towards his total should visit justgiving.com/leenash007.
