A MIDDLEWICH man has been presented with a certificate of appreciation by the Royal British Legion, in recognition of his 'dedicated service' to the charity.

Geoff Page, who was awarded his certificate at a Middlewich branch meeting last Tuesday, February 14, has helped raise funds through a number of endeavours over the years.

He has twice participated in the Cycle to Paris event and is involved in the organisation of the Middlewich charity beer festival each year.

At his own expense in 2016, the centenary year of the Battle of the Somme, he placed a poppy cross at every European grave and memorial to the Middlewich men who died in the First World War.

Ken Kingston, Middlewich branch chairman, said, "Geoff deserves this recognition. People do not realise the extent of his dedication to the RBL.

"Besides his service in Cheshire, he acts as a volunteer one day each week at the Liverpool poppy drop-in centre, where needy members of the service community receive assistance and advice."
