A MIDDLEWICH restaurant served up a feast for a group of elderly residents last week, as part of its ongoing charity work.

The Harvester Salt Cellar, off Holmes Chapel Road, cooked 22 roast dinners for members of the Winsford Salvation Army day care on Friday, January 6.

The day care service brings together elderly people for a meal each Friday, and Salt Cellar assistant manager Emma Tomkinson offered her services to treat members.

She said: “The service gets people out of the house and gives them good company, a meal and a cup of tea.

“We chose to do it this Friday, and they had a really nice time. We served 22 people and they were really, really happy.

“They are going to come back in March – we want to help raise awareness and some money for the charity.

“For some of them who went in over Christmas, the present they got from the charity was probably the only one they would get. The work they do is so important.”
