SKATERS fought it out at Middlewich’s third annual Skate Off competition this weekend, with the weather playing its part after a postponement in July.

Run by Middlewich Vision and Middlewich Town Council, the free-to-enter competition took place at Booth Lane skate park on Saturday.

Taking place over three categories, organisers also added in a third age group of over 18s, growing the event from its planned seven to 12 and 13 to 17-year-old format.

Town mayor Pam Farrell also attended the event, awarding prizes to all of the day’s winners.

Beverley Cope, of Middlewich Vision, took to Facebook to reflect on a “brilliant event”.

She said: “A huge thanks to all the entrants who took part and special thanks to the Middlewich Town Mayor Cllr Pam Farrell for awarding the prizes, Kath Scholtze and Lewis Barker for judging the competition.

“[Thanks to] Middlewich Town Council for supporting the event for the third year and members of the Middlewich Vision Community Life Action Team.

“Thanks must also go to UK Triathalon and Chris Lloyd for providing goody bags for all entrants and setting up and to Sonya Edwards for loaning some vital equipment. Many thanks to everyone. A great day was had by all.”

Those who attended the event also praised the community feel of the event, with participants of all ages mixing well.

The event had initially been scheduled for early in July, but rain forced a postponement due to safety fears over the wet ramps.
