A CHARITY dance night has been hailed a huge success after raising hundreds of pounds for The Christie hospital.

Middlewich dance instructor Dianne Coleman, who supports The Christie with an event every year, organised workshops and a Cuban party on Saturday to celebrate 30 years of teaching dance classes.

Dianne says she has been overwhelmed by the positive feedback, and estimates that the event raised around £700.

She said: “I’m exhausted! It was an amazing night and we didn’t finish dancing until about 4.30am – at the moment I am a bit gobsmacked with the support that I have had and how successful it was.

“I have been asked to do it monthly but that not going to happen. I am a very busy person but I will definitely do one again. It was supposed to be a one-off but it was brilliant and a fantastic venue.

“People came from all over the country and loved it. It was very well attended, everybody absolutely loved it and it was really nice to get my students to try something different.”

Three-time world salsa champion Yanet Fuentes Torres, who choreographed the dance to Shakira’s famous ‘Waka-Waka’ song, was among dancers to hold a workshop in the afternoon.

Cuban DJ Javier La Rosa and live band Cafe Con Leche were among the names on the lineup for the party night.
