CHESHIRE East Council have confirmed the dates for Middlewich’s long-awaited transport and travel consultation month.

Residents will be able to have their say on the bypass, railway station, bus services, walking and cycling routes and road safety concerns during a month-long period.

The consultation, which will allow the public to question and comment on transport issues in the town, will begin on August 15 and run until September 16.

Three public events will take place on August 25, September 3 and September 13, with details to be announced closer to the time.

Drop-in sessions will allow residents to open up a dialogue with the council, with the council also hoping to inform residents, businesses and stakeholders of the work done to date.

The latest progress on the bypass will also be available to view, with a further consultation planned once a proposed scheme has reached the formal planning stage.

Cheshire East Council leader Rachel Bailey said: “Cheshire East Council is working hard to deliver a solution for the transport issues facing the town and its residents.

“We are a listening authority and the views of those contributing to the consultation will be listened to and taken into account.

“We are determined that residents should have their say and the opportunity to influence and shape an overall action plan on transport. This will look at short and longer-term solutions.

“It is very important that we have the support of the town’s residents in whatever proposals we take forward. Our findings will also be shared with the people developing Middlewich’s neighbourhood plan.”

The consultation will also provide information to residents and businesses on the changing trends in traffic and travel in Middlewich and the rest of the borough.
