A COW was rescued from a fast flowing river in Byley after becoming stuck and almost drowning.
Two fire engines, one for Northwich and one from Knutsford, attended the scene at the River Dane off King Street at 5.18pm on Wednesday, June 15.
A man was already in the river holding the cow’s head above water, before firefighters arrived and used straps and a mechanical hoist to life it out of the river.
The man had been in the water for around 90 minutes, and so was checked over by paramedics.
