A BYLEY business has donated £2,000 to St Luke’s Hospice in Winsford as part of the company’s annual charity scheme.

Concrete product suppliers FP McCann staff handed over the cheque at their Byley depot – one of 12 across the UK – at the end of May.

Each branch of the FP McCann group selects a charity of choice each year.

Julie Cagna of FP McCann said: “It’s local and we know the good work that they do. They need money to keep the nurses and to keep it funded.

“It’s a good charity and everybody has been touched by it at some point.”

St Luke’s in Winsford is a 10-bed unit offering support to adults who need pain and symptom control, emergency respite, and end of life care.

There is also support offered to relatives and friends of those admitted, who receive free care thanks to generous donations.

A St Luke’s Hospice spokesperson said: “We would just like to say a big thank you and to emphasise how much the support means to us.

“We need £8,600 per day [to continue to offer free care], so a donation of £2,000 has a huge impact.”

Earlier this year, the hospice launched a ‘Business Buddies’ scheme, whereby companies can join in partnership with St Luke’s to provide care in their communities.

FP McCann employs over 1,300 people nationwide, offering precast concrete solutions.
