SEVERAL recommendations regarding the Middlewich Eastern Bypass were approved at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, May 3.
Issues were raised by members of the public at the meeting with Johnathan Parry expressing concern about Middlewich taking on more developments without the necessary traffic infrastructure.
Middlewich town councillor Carol Bulman also spoke about the potential concerns surrounding a freight terminal for HS2.
Cllr David Brown said that the bypass must be looked at in context with other projects in the area so as not to waste the funding for it.
Amid the recommendations approved by the council was that the authority be delegated to the interim executive director of economic growth and prosperity in consultation with the highways portfolio holder to conduct a public consultation in Middlewich.
The consultation will take into account the development of a wider transport plan covering public transport, walking, cycling, junctions and safety.
It will also ‘seek comments’ on route options and aspects of the design.
