AN application to build 27 houses off Croxton Lane in Middlewich has been met with complaints from residents.

An outline planning application has been submitted by Renew Land Developments to demolish one property – 36, Croxton Lane – and build a 27-home cul-de-sac on land behind where the row of houses stand.

The planning statement attached to the application stated: “The proposed development is genuinely sustainable and will meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

“The site relates well to existing services and infrastructure provision and forms a logical and sustainable urban extension, particularly when considered in the wider urban context.”

Several residents have submitted objections to the plans, citing a lack of basic amenities and traffic congestion as main issues.

Ruth Myers, who lives in Waterside Way, said: “Middlewich cannot take any more new housing developments. The doctors, schools and poor public transport system cannot support it.

“The volume of traffic during the morning and evening rush hour along Croxton Lane is high with crawling traffic which is usually over mile in length towards Middlewich in the evening.”
