MAYOR of Middlewich Cllr Ken Kingston has welcomed the addition of a new pharmacy in the Cledford area of Middlewich.

The pharmacy opened inside Cledford Post Office on Warmingham Lane on Monday, July 27, but only had an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, August 21.

Cllr Kingston cut the ribbon to the new pharmacy and said the new service is good news for residents living at the Cledford end of town.

He said: “I know that this new Pharmacy will be well received by the residents of Cledford, who will now avoid the need to travel into Middlewich Town Centre to order and collect repeat prescriptions.

“Also, there is an increasing need for local services of all sorts for senior citizens and Cledford Pharmacy, by its very presence, will also fulfil one of these services in this vicinity.

"The fact that local residents can use Warmingham Lane Post Office and get their pharmacy needs attended to in the same building is an added bonus.”

Becky Womersley, pharmacist at Cledford Pharmacy, said: “We have only been trading for a few weeks but already we have been inundated with well-wishers and people opting to order and collect their prescriptions and get advice on their doorstep to avoid the journey into the town centre or GP surgery.”

“A Pharmacy and Post Office are both vital parts of any local community, not least the Cledford area which is expanding rapidly, so it makes a lot of sense to combine them both under one roof.”
