MIDDLEWICH High School pupils celebrated receiving ‘some of the best GCSE results the school has experienced’ on GCSE results day.

A quarter of the year 11 cohort achieved three or more A* and A grades with two pupils, Dominic Green and Stuart Groom excelling with 11 A* and A grades.

Keith Simpson, Middlewich High head teacher, said: “I am proud that our students are leaving Middlewich High School with the life skills to prepare them exceptionally well for the next stage of their education.

“Students’ opportunities are greatly supported this year by some of the best GCSE results this school has ever experienced and I wish to recognise the efforts of students, parents and staff. We truly believe in our motto of ‘achievement for all’ and this is illustrated by our 2015 cohort.”

High standards in GCSE English and maths were increased at the school with pupils achieving 73 per cent A*to C in English language and 99 per cent in English literature. In mathematics, 65 per cent of pupils achieved a C grade or higher, with 97 per cent for maths statistics.

Sciences continue to excel with 96 per cent achieving A* to C grades in biology, physics and chemistry, with more than 40 per cent achieving A*and A’s in each of the three sciences.

The school’s ethos on providing a successful, broad curriculum is reflected by modern foreign language’s 100 per cent A* to C achievement, with humanities achieving 75 per cent and sport science and computer science achieving 77 per cent and 89 per cent respectively.
