THE former Ideal Standard factory in Middlewich will be demolished if plans are approved to build a waste transfer facility on the premises.

Cheshire East Council’s planning application to build a borough-wide waste transfer site in Cledford Lane on the site of the former Ideal Standard factory will be discussed on Wednesday, August 26, and a decision on whether to approve the application will be made.

The borough council has now submitted a separate application to demolish the buildings which were home to the bathroom suite company on the 62,813m sq site.

The latest application will not go to the planning board and is likely to be approved if the original plans to build the waste transfer site are given the green light.

The council submitted the application for the demolition on August 7 and allowed just one day for comments from the public to be made.
