THE new Scottish Power warehouse that is set to be built in Middlewich will bring 67 new full-time jobs according to the planning officer.

Middlewich construction company Pochin’s has applied for planning permission to build a 15,000sq ft depot for Scottish Power in Mid Point 18.

Cheshire East Council’s southern planning committee will vote today, Wednesday, August 5, on the application and the planning officer Robert Law has recommended it for approval.

A report prepared by Mr Law states: “This proposal would bring economic benefits through the delivery of 67-full time jobs within an established industrial park where the local plan allocates such uses.

"The proposal is compatible with the surrounding development and the design, scale and form of the building would sit comfortably with those within the locality."

The 2.1 acre triangular site has been earmarked for a 13,391 sq ft unit with associated parking, access and service areas, giving a gross external area for the development of 15,468sq ft.

The development would function as an operational depot with extensive yard space for Scottish Power vehicles. There would be room for 67 cars, 20 vans and ten heavy goods vehicles.
