A NEW pharmacy has now opened at the Cledford end of Middlewich, joining forces with Cledford Post Office.

The new pharmacy opened on Monday, July 27, and is located in the existing Cledford Post Office premises, which has undergone a transformation to a modern, bright pharmacy with a post office ‘local’ counter service.

The pharmacy has received wide support from the local community and staff are expecting to be inundated with new patients as post office customers look to access both services under one roof.

Jonathan Williams, Middlewich Town Council clerk, said: “The town council is delighted to see pharmaceutical provision is now available in the Cledford area and are sure this important service will be well used by local residents and visitors to our town.

“Pharmacies play an important role in providing advice and guidance and this will compliment other local health services.”

Pharmacists expect the new pharmacy to improve access to services and convenience for patients as they will be able to order and collect their repeat prescriptions without making a time consuming journey to the town centre.

Becky Womersley, pharmacist at Cledford Pharmacy who has worked locally for six years, said: “With the previous sub-postmaster Chetan retiring there was a very real risk of Cledford losing the post office altogether so we are delighted to have been able to retain the service in Cledford.

“A Pharmacy and post office are both vital parts of any local community, not least Cledford area which is expanding rapidly so it makes a lot of sense to combine them both under one roof and many customers have already commented on how handy it is to have a one-stop-shop for all their post office and pharmacy needs.

“It is easy to change your pharmacy, simply speak to a member of staff once the pharmacy opens and you will be guided through the process.

“Patients will be able to order their prescriptions in person, over the phone or online at cledfordpharmacy.co.uk and the pharmacy is able to process electronic prescriptions too.”
