MIDDLEWICH Town Council are joining forces with Cheshire libraries and Heritage Lottery Fund to complete a new exhibition in Middlewich Library.

The exhibition has been taking shape throughout July and a two-day event will be held this week, in conjunction with Archeology Week, to show the public how the exhibition is shaping up.

Members of the public are invited to go along to Middlewich Library on Friday, July 24, from 9.30am to 5pm, and Saturday, July 25, from 9.30am to 1pm.

The Handling collection is made up of actual objects found in Middlewich and some reproductions so visitors can see the shape and form of the objects.

Visitors of all ages over the two days will be encouraged to get involved with the new exhibition, choosing what items should be included on the New Middlewich Virtual Museum webpage.

Kerry Fletcher, Middlewich Heritage officer, said: “We are taking part in Archaeology Week run by the Council for British Archaeology, a special event to help us achieve our goals of having a new exhibition space and ‘virtual museum’ website. Come along and join in, activities for all ages, be a part of the changes happening in Heritage at Middlewich.”

There will also be various activities for children including making roman mosaic tiles to decorate the library and the new exhibition, and making your own roman helmet.
