A MIDDLEWICH drug dealer has been sentenced to 2 years and 10 months in jail after police found him with more than 50 bags of class A drugs.

Liam Atkinson, 20, from Sutton Lane in Middlewich, pleaded guilty to two charges of possession with intention to supply class A drugs, at Chester Crown Court on Thursday, May 28, and was sentenced at the same court on Friday, June 19.

Atkinson was stopped and searched by police in Winsford on Wednesday, May 13, after they were tipped off by a member of the public and Middlewich man was found to have 21 bags of heroin and 30 bags of crack cocaine in his possession.

Insp Dave Snasdell, from Winsford Police, said: “We aim to take drugs off the streets of Winsford and Middlewich and this is another successful result.

“It is an example of us directly targeting street crime and officers did a stop and search after acting on information from the public.

“We can’t continue the fight against drug security without members of the community.”
