POLICE are appealing for witnesses following two attempted burglaries in Middlewich.

Both of the incidents, which happened in the Manor Park area of the town, are believed to have taken place sometime between 9am and 1pm on Monday, June 15.

During the first incident two offenders are believed to have approached the rear of the property on Nantwich Road and tried to force entry by the rear doors, but were disturbed when an alarm sounded.

In the second incident, which took place at an address on Simonswood Close, the offenders again tried to gain access via the rear of the property, but were disturbed by the homeowner.

DC Liz Rankin from Cheshire Police CID said: “While nothing has been stolen from either address it is clear that the offenders have gone to some length to get in to these homes, which has caused some distress to the homeowners.

“We are particularly interested in speaking to tow unknown men who were seen in the area around the time of the incidents. The men are described as between 20 to 30 years old, of proportionate build, and wearing casual clothing, at the time of the incident one of the men was carrying a rucksack.

“Following these incidents we urge members of the local community to remain vigilante, ensuring that all doors and windows are secure, and report any suspicious activity to the police via 101.”

Anyone with any information in relation to the incidents is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 488 of 15/6/2015. Information can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
