A MOTHER who has installed 15 defibrillators in Middlewich after her son died of heart failure has announced plans to put two more of the life-saving machines in the town.

Linda Boden cheered on a group of friends, Rossi Bugliarello, Tom Latham, Ashley Hassall and Jack Lannin, who ran the Manchester 10k earlier this month and has now said the money raised will go towards increasing the number of defibrillators in Middlewich to 17.

Linda said: “I’d like to thank the guys who ran and they do it every year, and all the people who sponsored them.

“The money raised will go to SADS UK and will go towards funding two more defibrillators we will be installing in Middlewich.

“There will be one going at St Michael’s Church and one at St Mary’s Primary School and that will make 17 in the town now since I started campaigning.

“It’s really important to have these machines in the community because they save lives. They save a lot more lives than fire extinguishers and they are a legal requirement so we need to make sure we get defibrillators out there.”

Staff at St Mary’s Primary School and members of St Michael’s Church will also be given training in using the defibrillators when they get installed.

St Mary’s head teacher Susan Noyce is delighted to be getting such an important piece of equipment in her school and said it is something the children have been asking for.

Susan said: “I think it’s important to have these defibrillators as accessible as we can.

“We hope we don’t ever have to use it but if we did ever need it, it’s important to have one in school.

“One of the children actually brought it up last year and when we did a mock election recently we split the children into parties. One of them said they wanted our funding to be spent on a defibrillator and the children voted for them.

“We are also getting some help with funding from Linda and SADS UK which is fantastic.”
