THE Battle of Middlewich takes centre stage at four weeks time and the programme of events is now out for the public.

The programme is being distributed around the town and has approximate timings of all events throughout the two days of Sunday, May 24 and Monday, May 25, at St Michael and All Angels Church, The Town hall, and Market Field.

The entire event is free of charge and refreshments are available.

Kerry Fletcher, Middlewich Heritage development officer, said: “This event would not be happening without the support of the community and especially volunteers, a big thank you to Allan Earl for all his help and research into the Civil War of Middlewich.

“A great deal of his time was spent on research, cross checking references and getting everything in order. The interpretation panels are now being printed and contain newly uncovered information to our civil war past.”

The re-enactors of the Colonel Edward Montagu’s Regiment of Foote have put in a lot of time and effort to ensure that families have a great day out exploring life and warfare in the Civil War era.

Organisers are still looking for volunteers to help steward the event. If you want to help out, contact Kerry Fletcher in the first instance on 01606 833434 or email heritage@middlewich.org.uk
