A FARMER from Middlewich caused a stir on an ITV debate show when he told a convicted murderer that he should have paid for his crime with his own life.

Charles Sherwin, 42, who lives at Dairy House Farm in Middlewich, appeared on ITV show O’Brien alongside veteran comedian Jim Davidson, to talk about being a victim of online abuse known as ‘trolling’ after appearing on Take Me Out.

Charles said on Obrien: “I did the Take Me Out show and I went on there for a bit of fun but the way they portrayed me was that I’m arrogant and I’m spoilt.

“I was getting threats and we actually had someone burst into the yard and wanted to kill me.”

But as well as discussing the issue of trolling, Charles also made his voice heard in the debate of whether sentencing in the UK is tough enough.

The Middlewich farmer, who claims he lives a ‘millionaire lifestyle’, tackled convicted murderer Ben Gunn, telling him he believes his sentence was too lenient and that capital punishment should be reinforced for murderers.

“You’re sat here and you’re a convicted murderer,” he said. “You murdered somebody; somebody lost their life. I believe in an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth.”

The comment sparked the debate into a heated row and host James O’Brien had to intervene.
