A weather warning has been issued for strong winds across the region this evening and overnight by the Met Office.
The early 'yellow' warning comes into effect at 7pm this evening and stays in place for 24 hours.
Westerly winds will become stronger across many parts of the northwest during Monday evening and night, with gusts of 50-60 mph and isolated gusts of 65-70 mph in exposed locations.
The strong winds will continue in to Tuesday with the wind turning north-westerly by the morning and although it should ease for a time, it will become very gusty through the day.
The public should be aware of the risk of localised damage from these winds and for minor disruption to travel.
Warnings have been issued for most of the country due to a deepening area of low pressure.
