OFFICERS at Cheshire Police have issued a warning after a dangerous batch of ecstasy tablets have hit the streets of Cheshire.

Investigations into the sale of the illegal drug are still ongoing after an 18-year-old teenager, who is believed to have taken the drugs during a night out in Chester, was taken to hospital on Sunday morning.

The man, who remains in hospital, is understood to have been showing similar symptoms to four teenagers, who were also taken to hospital the night before after taking the drug.

All four were released from hospital several hours later.

Three men from Ellesmere Port have been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs and have been released on police bail.

Detective inspector Simon Newell said," Police are advising that anyone who has taken a tablet similar to those described, and who is feeling unwell in any way, should immediately seek medical attention by attending their local A and E.

"I would also advise everyone to be a good friend − if you believe someone you know may have taken one of these tablets, then check on them this morning and make sure they are well. If there is any doubt, seek immediate medical attention."

The tablets are yellow and red in colour, and have the letters 'UPS' on them.

The drugs - believed to be ecstasy - have been linked to severe illness and even death elsewhere in the country.

Anyone with information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 90 of 14/03/2015 or call Crimestoppers hotline 0800 555 111.
