THE former Wheelock Street café Mococo has now been officially opened as accommodation for young and vulnerable people.

The building, which is now called Mococo House, has been transformed into nine fully furnished flats by Middlewich Community Church, and was formally opened by Susan Sellers, High Sheriff of Cheshire, on Friday, February 27.

The day was a fulfilment of a year’s work by the church to convert the former coffee shop on supported bedsits for young people aged 16 to 25-years-old.

David Moore, pastor of the Middlewich Community Church, said: “Mococo House is the fulfilment of a long held dream to provide supported housing for vulnerable young people from the Cheshire area.

“Our state-of-the-art facility will offer 24-hour support and care helping young adults prepare for full independence.”

The fully furnished flats are of the highest specification and have shower rooms, kitchen and sleeping areas.

The idea behind the project is to empower young adults by offering them the opportunity to move towards independent living within a safe, secure, loving environment that understands their unique needs and backgrounds.

Mococo House will seek to help improve their self esteem, enhance their job opportunities, and provide a secure home base from which to flourish in life.
