MIDDLEWICH construction company Pochin has lodged an objection against the Cheshire East Council’s proposed Gipsy site on Cledford Lane.

Pochin has joined the list of residents who have officially objected to the plans, with chief executive of the company Jim Nicholson claiming the Gipsy community could ‘create disruption’ to his business.

Jim Nicholson said: “We review all planning applications that affect our area and we appropriate and responsible decisions on that.

“I think it’s a difficult balance when you have got a community that can create disruption with the business community.”

Bradley Giblin, who submitted the objection on behalf of Pochin for business reasons, gives two main factors behind the objection, being HCV parking creating a ‘nuisance to neighbouring properties’ and impact on the proposed bypass.

The document submitted states: “The proposal lacks adequate screening and landscaping along the boundary of the site. This would be detrimental to the local amenity, imposing severe impact not only upon the neighbouring properties but also visually impacting on the proposed Middlewich Eastern Bypass.

“The submission lacks any evidence of adequate screening or landscaping on either the western or southern boundaries.”

Cheshire East Council plan to build a legal Gipsy and traveller site on Cledford Lane in Middlewich and submitted a planning application to turn grade two listed Cledford Hall barns into wash rooms on the site.

A planning committee is due to make a decision on the application on Wednesday, March 25, with a long list of objections from members of the public now lodged and a petition against the site reaching more than 300 signatures.
